This kit basically jumped off the shelf at me, as a memorable moment in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The kit itself is smallish, but includes a lot of smaller pieces (83 total pieces).
Interestingly, I often recall a cracked article (http://www.cracked.com/article_19140_8-movie-special-effects-you-wont-believe-arent-cgi.html ) about "Special effects you won't believe!" regarding this scene. Turns out that no special effects were used (computer special effects, that is), only camera tricks to make the scene happen. Check this out!!
Thats how they made Gandalf look so much larger than Frodo. Anyhow, back to the Lego!
The pieces are mostly for the cart (go figure!), but 2 mini figures are included, Gandalf and Frodo. Frodo has tiny little legs that don't bend, which is pretty neat, and Gandalf includes a beard, and a cloth cape. The build only took a few minutes, but it displays nicely. In my kit, I got an extra carrot stem, with only one carrot body, so my Frodo is holding one carrot, fully assembled, and another carrot stem. He doesn't seem to mind.
I picked up the kit from Wal-mart for $12.99, and you can pick it up from Amazon for $12.97, eligible for free super saver shipping, here:
